Colloboration towards sustainable development of cities - Common Challenges, Common Solutions

The project is implemented by Union of Communities of Armenia with financial support of Visegrad Fund.
The Visegrad Fund is an international donor organization, established in 2000 by the governments of the Visegrad Group countries—Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia to promote regional cooperation in the Visegrad region (V4) as well as between the V4 region and other countries, especially in the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership regions. The mission of the Fund is to promote ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.

Związek Miast Polskich: Since 1990 the Association of Polish Cities has featured prominently in the most recent history of the revived local self-government in Poland. The APC supports economic and socio-cultural development of Polish cities. APC disseminates good practices in modern and innovative governance of communities of citizens. APC offers expertise and substantive support, strategic management assistance, experience exchange.
Union of Towns and Cities of Slovakia has solid experience of about 25 years. It promotes the role of cities in the process of decentralization and public administration modernization in Slovakia, ensures, manages and coordinates mutual cooperation of cities in common problems solving with full responsibility for development of region, develops crucial strategic and development documents and national programs, supports and coordinates mutual cooperation of cities in programs of local and regional development especially with focus on implementation of Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy target.
Települési Önkormányzatok Országos Szövetsége: Hungarian National Association of Local Authorities (TÖOSZ) elaborates with its wide-range national and international Partners effective capacity-building tools for elected and professional leaders of local governments. It has established in 2009 the Mayors Academy, which offers trainings for Mayors and experts of municipalities. TÖOSZ significantly contributed to the acquisition of the democratic exercise of power since 30 years, the strengthening of communal and local resources. TÖOSZ has more than 1600 local governments as members and offers different services; assistance for cooperation with foreign local governments, promotion of Best Practices of Local Governments, etc.
Rádlo municipality is a typicall urban municipality. The community is in the area, charged with municipal authority: Jablonec nad Nisou. The first evidence of Radlo is known in history in 1419. The community was founded in 1938.
About the project
In framework of the project called “Colloboration towards sustainable development of cities - Common Challenges, Common Solutions” trainings will be organized attended by the experts from V4 countries, which will assist to capacities development and experience sharing with elected officials and specialists from target communities of Armenia.
Through decentralised cooperation with Vishegrad 4 countries the project will promote capacity development of mayors and decentralised development helping to create smart cities. The generated long term cooperation between associations and municipalities will be based on expertise sharing, facing future challenges together, realising projects together.
A study tour of selected group from Armenia to Poland will be held which will help to further development of the capacities and understanding of European model.
Then the Forum entitled "Cooperation towards Smart Cities" will be held in Armenia. The partners form Vishegrad countries, experts, mayors and officials will attend the Forum during which memorandums between 4 partner Associations will be signed.
