The village of Gandzakar is located 4 km far from Idjevan, a tributary of Aghstev in three small tributaries of the Urtajur River. According to reliable information, from the 1860s, two dozen families from Nerkin Aghdan (from current Aknaghbyur village) move and settle in that area. Two small churches have been built, the ruins of which are still preserved.
It is noteworthy that in 1896, On January 10, a parish school was set up in the village by the efforts of its fellow villager Samsonbak Harutyunyan / President of the Armenian Benevolent Union in the Caucasus,
